SOME COLOR IS JUST WHAT THE DOCTER ORDERED!
HALTE IMMENBERGWEG
Did you know the biggest nature reserve from the Netherlands, The Veluwe, is actually planted? To create this “human-made” effect I decided to depict it in a style as if it was cut out of paper. You see a hand insirting a wild boar which is a reference to the humans that actually reintroduced the “wild” animals like wild boars and deers. There is an old steam train that goes once a day and passes my mural and who knows a wild boar will take a look too!
THE SUN WE SHARE
In Utrecht, the Netherlands I made this mural to celebrate that the residents of this housing co-orporation (Woonin and WijkCStroom) accomplished getting solar panels on the roof. I wanted to emphasize the community feeling of helping each other because they now all benefit from the fact that they have united together to get cheaper and green power.
I always love drawing from different perspectives to guide my spectators eye. Amongst the sounds of the busy traffic, singing students on boats passing you loudly hear the ring-necked parakeet. They are so typical for that area that I had top depict them as well!
THE NIGHT IS OURS
Where to demand safety for women on the streets better then on the street itself? Right in one of the dark and dodgy allies from Utrecht, the Netherlands me and my dear friend Munir de Vries made this mural with the text: “We demand back the night!“
To raise awareness about the fact that so many women get catcalled, harassed or even killed while walking, jogging or biking on the street. We wanted to show an utopian image where a group of diverse women are dancing on the street, just how they are, without having to be afraid.
