WHAT I DO
In my recognizable “pride pallet” I make illustrations, animations, mural paintings and graphic design. I press my pencil on political, social and environmental problems. Not in a whispering voice but in bold and popping visuals!
I’ve had the pleasure of working for clients like National Geographic, REEF, Triodos Bank, Amazon Prime, Van Gogh Museum, Lowlands Festival, Amnesty and much more.
My style is energetic and playful and I’m inspired by retro music posters, 90’s fish-eye video’s and feminist books. Inclusivity and empowerment are important topics in my work and the gradients in my work show that not everything is black-and-white nor pink-and-blue.
This grey world could use some extra color so when I get the opportunity to transform a camper van into an artwork on wheels, a boring wall into a beautiful mural or even a washing machine for Robijn, I will!

THIS GREY WORLD NEEDS MORE COLOR
This is my latest mural and is 100 m2 and is based at the Kariboestraat, Utrecht. I made it for the College of de Rechten van de Mens to celebrate 75 years of Human Rights. I wanted everybody that passes by, to look up to people that often get looked down upon. It needed to represent a diverse group of people including people of different colors, shapes, abilities and backgrounds.
And I’m here to help! I love to brighten up the streets. I work with spray paint as well as latex.
This mural painting is in Utrecht, the Netherlands and it was a beautiful opportunity to do exactly that.
To celebrate that the residents of this housing co-orporation (Woonin and WijkCStroom) accomplished getting solar panels on the roof, they asked me to make a design for their wall. I wanted to emphasize the community feeling of helping each other because they now all benefit from the fact that they united.

For Dok Brewing Company I designed a series of beer labels that pop out of the shelves and that are a party to drink from.

Illustration above: We are less and less in contact with people from other backgrounds, education and income. This causes less understanding from each other. So actually it’s really worth it to leave your cultural bubble. It makes your life richer and more fun, experts say.
TRIODOS BANK
I’m honored to call myself the editorial house illustrator of the Triodos Bank. Every few weeks I make a header illustration, some spot illustrations and a carousel post for one of their article. Their blog, “De kleur van geld”, where these illustrations get posted, is all about sustainability, ethical use of AI, going out of your social bubble, tips on how to save money and much more!
Illustration above: when Triodos asked me to make an illustration about saving money I immediately thought about taking care of a money tree. But since the article is about giving daily tips on how to grow your account, I didn’t want to draw a regular money tree but a bonsai one. This one needs extra care and daily attention to become the best version. Every day she can cut a few bills but not too many or else the truck of the tree becomes bare and broke.
The illustration above is about online payment fraude, skimming and scamming. Keep your eyes open and don’t fall in the hands of these anonymous criminals. The World Wide Web can sometimes feel like a jungle where you’re being watched and monitored but you don't know by whom. A text from a relative who needs help suddenly turns out to be a scam. Banks like Triodos do everything they can to prevent these kinds of payment fraudes but better be safe then sorry and not catch the bait and get lost in this scary jungle.
The illustration above is about giving our kids consciousness about sustainable living. Since they are the future it’s important to teach them tools to take care of our planet. My interpretation was playing doctor as a child but now the kids have to heal our sick Mother Earth.
The illustration above shows the merging of the analog and digital worlds. We're reaching for AI for more and more purposes: a window that offers many possibilities and prospects, but isn't yet sufficiently regulated. Should we open that window completely right away, or rather leave it ajar at first? Do we choose convenience over ethics? In this article Triodos explains how they work with AI between the borders on what is still ethical.
As an artist, I too fear being replaced by AI. That a completed art academy, years of experience, and talent are replaced by the simple push of a button. Behind this illustration lie doubts, considerations, and uncertainties, but also... a true creator.

PLAYFUL BUT IMPACTFUL
REEF asked me to design these special pride edition sandals for them. With the motto “The beach loves all”
I wanted to focus on inclusivity. Left is a bad surf session and right a good one but they both symbolize the fun in surfing and celebrating failure as much as accomplishments. 
Mata Hari
For Visit Leeuwarden I designed my version of a modern Mata Hari. It was so cool to see my designs on flags, billboards, flyers, stickers and even empty buildings.
I create editorial illustrations for websites, newspapers and (online) magazines. To make your text come alive I deep dive into my imagination and come up with clear, bold and captivating images.
